At the
request of public school districts, charter schools, state and local
educational agencies, center staff provide a variety of free services
including workshops, seminars, conferences, technical assistance
professional development and information dissemination. The staff also
works with client school personnel to design individual activities that
meet the needs of the school or district. Below are examples of MEAC
services:
Technical Assistance
- Strategies for implementing school reform programs
- Integrating equity into the strategic planning process
- Strategies for recruiting women and minority staff
- Examining structures, procedures and policies as possible
sources for discrimination
Professional Development
Student concerns:
- Developing leadership skills in culturally diverse students
- Increasing student achievement in state content standards and
student performance standards
- Increasing participation of girls and minorities in math and

- Improving the quality of bilingual education programs
- Using assessment instruments to assess ELL student performance
